Left this beautiful young lady in a decanter for 3 1/2 hours. I should leave it until Thanksgiving. Almost 4 hours in and she is just really thinking about unwinding. Super tight with beautifully elegant tannins. Loads of fruit, earth and spice. Just keep layering out. I won't touch another one for a decade.

Gave it a two hour decant. Dark brambly berries with notes of leather and spice. Even better on day two.

2011 Vintage. 15.5% ABV. Licorice nose and inky black color. Loved it with a veal chop with porcini mushroom sauce.

Had this wine with some old and new friends at Taylor’s Wine Shop in Raleigh, NC. Brick colored with an aroma that just pulls you in. Earthiness, leather, and pepper on the nose. The taste confirmed the scent. It had structure, power, and meatiness with a black pepper undertone. However, it was remarkably smooth with a long finish. Thank you @Mike R for sharing this wine. It was fantastic!

Wine #2 (I think) for Dave’s Zoom birthday. I never say this about SQN, but I was a touch disappointed by this one. Seemed pretty closed even after quite a while in the glass. My guess is that it needs many hours of decanted airtime and/or is in a transitional phase (my bet is on the former). Fortunately I have one or two more bottles of this - will try to be smarter about it next time!
