Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Still tight after five years but after letting it sit for a day, it turned into this luscious black fruit monster. Wonderful tannins, and definitely a sense of place with an underlying dirt and mushroom flavor.

This 5 year old Napa Cabernet is drinking very nicely now, although still young.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, chocolates, peppercorn, bitter herbs, licorice, earth and tobacco leaf.

Good right out of the bottle and better with some air time (90 minutes). I liked the nose better than the palate at this point.

Would age nicely in the next 15 years.

Very dark purple in glass. Bright dark and blue fruit on the nose though somewhat muted initially. I’ve seen comments of mushroom and earth by others but I’m not getting that. This needs more time. Very closed. The tannins are assertive and dry. Moderate long finish. Could be decent in 3-5 years…. I’d wait on corking for now.
