Great bottle even with a terrible cork. Call chateau Montelena to find out about vintage for this second label. The lady didn’t know this was produced by the winery she is employed and unfortunately was not help. Sad that this wineries that are part of Napa’s history don’t even know their own. — 6 months ago
Okay my friends. I have finally released my own wine! This rating is for Dr Todd Vineyards cabernet sauvignon from Herron Family Wines. I had to put Papillon in the pic to get this spot. Ive been working on this since 2014!!!!! It is finally ready. Of coarse it is opaque in color. The legs are thick and slow to fall. The bouquet is my favorite blackberry pie fresh out of the oven with a hint of black licorice. The initial palate is exploding with dark fruit: blackberry, black current, dark cherries. The mid palate is exactly what I hoped for, chocolate and spice with a splash of oak! The finish is very long with minimal tannins and moderate dryness. I am very proud if this wine. I want to thank my growers in NAPA. I blended two vines of 100% cabernet , one from Oakville and one from the Silverado trail area near lake Hennessey. We aged it three years in American Oak. I am so proud of my team!!!!! Thank you my Herron Family Wine Crew! This is an awesome cabernet sauvignon. Next is a pinot noir... stay tuned... — 7 months ago
Grapefruit, lemon candy, apricot, apple, slate and blood orange. Electric acidity and great minerality. — 4 months ago
This 15 year old Napa Cabernet is very enjoyable. Showing black fruits with earth notes, wet leaves, herbs, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke and peppercorn.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
Earthy nose and fruity on the palate. Very tasty and interesting. Showing great complexity and mouthfeel.
Wine Enthusiasts 88 points.
Needs 2 hours to open up properly and show some tannins.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Thank you, Elvira for sharing this with me. Delicious.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
$45 (current vintage). — 7 months ago
#dfwe2019 — 3 months ago
Cherry, watermelon candy, raspberry, strawberry, cream, lemon curd and hints of stone fruit. Great acidity and balance. — 5 months ago
Preferred the 2000 Silverado Cabernet to this one. But, this is classic Bordeaux style to a degree. However I think it is a bit out of balance and starting to unravel at the edges. My first impression of this wine based on the nose was not very great. This one was pretty funky at cork pop. However, it settled down very fast. Smoked pipe tobacco, dates, plums was more of the character here. The finish was a little bit abrupt. Still has something left, but I would drink these up now. — 7 months ago
