SOLO Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2002

#dfwe2019 — 6 days ago

Excellent! Not quite as big as we’d like, but very smooth and full bodied. Save 2nd bottle for special occasion. — a year ago

Silverado Cellars

Napa & Sonoma Valley's Zinfandel

Great bottle even with a terrible cork. Call chateau Montelena to find out about vintage for this second label. The lady didn’t know this was produced by the winery she is employed and unfortunately was not help. Sad that this wineries that are part of Napa’s history don’t even know their own. — 3 months ago

Chateau St. Jean

Cinq Cépages Sonoma County Red Blend 2000

Preferred the 2000 Silverado Cabernet to this one. But, this is classic Bordeaux style to a degree. However I think it is a bit out of balance and starting to unravel at the edges. My first impression of this wine based on the nose was not very great. This one was pretty funky at cork pop. However, it settled down very fast. Smoked pipe tobacco, dates, plums was more of the character here. The finish was a little bit abrupt. Still has something left, but I would drink these up now. — 5 months ago

Silverado Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

This 15 year old Napa Cabernet is very enjoyable. Showing black fruits with earth notes, wet leaves, herbs, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke and peppercorn.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

Earthy nose and fruity on the palate. Very tasty and interesting. Showing great complexity and mouthfeel.

Wine Enthusiasts 88 points.

Needs 2 hours to open up properly and show some tannins.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

Thank you, Elvira for sharing this with me. Delicious.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$45 (current vintage).

Estate Grown Soda Creek Ranch Zinfandel 2013

Decanted for 1 hour. Red color with medium body. Mixed Berry blast on the fore palate. Finish morphed with time, astringent acid early in the bottle, smooth with black pepper spice at the end of the bottle. Conjured memories of our California trip - spent a few hours at Silverado sipping & tasting while we waited on the rental car - a great place to be stranded!! Amazing view!
