Secondary notes of earth & damp cellar from the age. Just about to fall over the hill, but after pouring a second taste, I get some olive & ginger notes. Tasted a few younger Cali Pinots today, but this older gentleman stands out in a great way.

This initially shows some VA (cough syrup) aromas, but underneath is some mature, yet enticing, cool red fruit aromas and flavors, decent balance, medium-long finish, probably better 5-10 years ago, but still pretty darn good!!

Jul 9th, 2026Sadly, this has gone almost 85% VA (volatile acidity), it might make a good vinegar base, but that’s it. I take 100% of the blame for holding this too long!!!

Feb 4th, 2026Not surprisingly, the most evolved of tonight’s trio of Siduri “Hirsch” (1997, 2000 & 2001), some underlying Brett (horsey) aromatics, but this also shows some lovely tart red-fruits aromas and flavors, solid Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, time to drink, especially if I’m correct about the Brett in this wine.
