Seavey Vineyard
Estate Grown Napa Valley Chardonnay

Popped and poured; enjoyed over he course of a couple of hours The 2024 pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of peaches and cream, Comice pear, passionfruit, Key Lime pie, white flowers, dehydrated orange, banana Runts, ghee and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and has a creamy texture. Seavey’s Chardonnay is always one of my favorite expressions from Napa Valley but every so often, they make a special Chardonnay. 2024 was one of those years. This is best I’ve had since the 2017/2018 vintages. Drink now through 2034.

Popped and poured; no formal notes. Consumed over two days and showed its best on day two. I knew when I opened this that I really ought to have waited a couple of years but it’s hard to resist the Chardonnays from Seavey. They are so refreshing compared to the majority of examples coming from Napa Valley. I find that they lean a little bit more towards Chablis in style, while still remaining true to Napa. Tropical fruits that lean more towards the pineapple side of the spectrum with some Kiwi, peach and lemon citrus. Good minerals and acid too. I found this to be a lovely pairing with the whole chicken I smoked this afternoon. Hold for a year or two if you can. Best after 2024 through 2030.

The 2019 Seavey pours a pale straw color with medium viscosity. One the nose, bright tropical fruits, some lemon citrus and stone. On the palate, tropical fruit, citrus, minerals and a little hit of vanilla. The finish is long, steely and somewhat savory. Medium+ acid, medium alcohol. Creamy mouthfeel but the brightness of fruit gives it deft balance. One of my favorite Chardonnays from Napa.

Oh yes, this is exactly what I want in my Chardonnay. More Chablis than Côte de Beaune. A sublime mix of tropical fruit, lemon and minerals. Super crisp and wonderfully refreshing. The acid plays on the palate for over a minute. Impeccably well done and such an outlier from other Napa and Sonoma Chardonnays.

One foot in cali, the other in burgundy. Their Merlot and their very small production chard is an insiders secret!

Not super complex but nicely balanced and good with out being super oaky or buttery

Showing even more age than I'd imagine. Very small production, old vines from a spot in the valley that never should have been planted to Chardonnay anyway (that's why they ripped most of it out). A pleasurable and intriguing wine, nonetheless.

A delicious wine, but I am more partial to Seavey reds. Buttery, lemony, grassy, butterscotchy and a beautiful pale gold.
