Saxum Vineyards
G2 Vineyard Mourvèdre-Grenache Blend

This appears to be evolving. The first bottle, perhaps, highlighted the grenache a bit more whereas tone the fruit was a bit less exuberant and savory notes more pronounced.

This needs an hour to open but then its complexity and richness show quite well. Grenache is the higher percentage and it shows. Very plush.

Great stuff. Very plush and rich but with a savory core. First bottle from this vineyard and it’s an impressive wine.

Last bottle of this first vintage. As good as previous notes. About 90 minutes in the decanter. Dark fruit, pretty silky texture, savory core. No rush to drink it but it’s certainly accessible now.

En mag. Typical parfait aromas, but surprisingly gentle on palate, belying its 15.8%. A touch of savory norhone mid-palate. Rate-able!

My second time trying Saxum and I got to say these wines have such character. Luscious and ripe. Dark fruits, liqueur, peat, violets, garrigue. Ending is tannic and long. Impressive balance for a heavy weight wine like this. Please refrain from drinking this if you have a bottle, still quite youthful even for my taste. With a handful of years cellering it could become legendary.
