Phenomenal nose: dark red berries, smoky minerality, a bit of sweet spice and a bit of funk. Mouthfilling flavors are very clingy, but the wine is soft and seems almost weightless. Savory, iodine, smoky fire pit, charred beef. Long-ass finish. Really good stuff.
UPDATE: Night 2 this is showing even more depth and complexity. Upping from 9.2 to 9.3

One of the most affordable Syrahs one can find out there with fruit primarily from “The Rocks”. Saviah has been slowly moving more and more fruit from their estate vineyard in The Rocks to this bottling, and the 2017 vintage shows 80% estate fruit. This is mostly savory, briny stuff, but shows just enough blackberry & spice to show some accessibility in youth. In a really great place right now. Get some

Mar 6th, 2020Black pepper & blackberry nose. Beautiful palate starting with red fruit leading to darker berry notes. This has an enticing smoky character which adds complexity to both nose and palate. Finishes beautifully with bright acid & chalky tannins. Showing great & a wine to enjoy young.

Jan 12th, 2020Beautiful, silky Syrah unfolding with the brilliant record Dark Bird has flown by The Tallest Man on Earth. The songs here are short stories and reflections while the wine is a connector with pretty bright fruit & balancing structure. I love when acidity emerges in Syrah and it comes in spades here.

Great, meaty with intense spice. Stewed fruit. Tannins are a little sharp. Will be excellent in another 3 year’s!

Delightful Syrah. Has strong notes of currant or blackberry that really sets the wine apart. One of the best Syrah's at this price point. Great value and taste.
