Santi
Solane Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Corvina Blend

I’ve had this bottle around for years and it was a surprising pop and pour tonight. Loads of funk right out of the gate. Fennel, tobacco, red fruits settled. Perfect for a red sauce BYOB kinda place.

Typically average Valpolicella Ripasso. And Ripasso shouldn't be "average". Lots of funk, medium everything in structure. No risk, no gain. 2011 vintage

The 2011 vintage has a potential for additional aging. As of today, it seems lacking the body of other Ripassos, but mostly because of the way the wine was re-fermented over partially dried grapes instead of the pressed clusters. Cherry and fruit, with persistent notes of spices and black pepper.

2011 is showing some age already. Enjoyable, earthy funk, but a little hot and out of balance

Blend of 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella. Intense ruby color. Plenty of bright red fruit aromas and flavors highlighted by a nice background of vanilla. Touch of baking spices on the persistent finish. Thank You Ron B! Revisited in February 2022. Same notes as above. Revisited again in October 2022.
