Sandlands
Lodi Zinfandel
Intense ruby red with brilliant clarity, moderate-to-high pigment extraction. Bramble, raspberry, cedar/baking spice aromas. Raspberry Pez flavor with some seed tannin bitterness and red fruit/black currant finish with real length. Light acidity and body, some puckering of inner sides of back of the mouth cavity. After 30 minutes, menthol, mint and spearmint emerge in the finish along with fine grained tannins and slight skin astringency.

Aug 16th, 2024Into the Zin, into the Sandlands. Inky dense ruby red, high pigment extraction. Raspberry and blackberry aromas, flavors, tar on finish. Rich and flavorful from the initial pour. Decent acid, light on alcohol compared to your traditional Cali Zin. Tart cherry and plum flavors emerge after 30 minutes. A multilayered treasure here!

Oct 24th, 2023My last bottle of 2018 Zinfandel from Sandlands. The wine pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity and moderate staining of the tears and no signs of sediment. On the nose, blue and black fruits with baking spices. On the palate, the fruits and non-fruits are confirmed though the fruits come across slightly desiccated and there is a dash of black pepper. Medium- tannin and medium acid. Long ass finish. I love how these wines show off what Lodi is capable of. Drinking really well now; drink through 2028.

1 person found it helpfulMar 18th, 2023Signature Zinfandel spice, but wrapped up in deceptively mid weight body with a nice lift of acidity. Perfect with chimichurri flank steak.

Aug 2nd, 2022Sandlands really makes remarkably good wines. Even a grape varietal that I often find too big and jammy is handled with finesse for a delicate and fresh wine.
