Garnet red, excellent clarity, medium pigment extraction. Red fruit aromas, strawberry, a hint of butter on nose. Cherry berry flavors with a hint of mint on finish. Light seed tannins too. Fresh, light, wonderful, well balanced.

May 14th, 2020Awesome wine. She picked it from the cellar. Blind on open I thought it might be cru Beaujolais. Syrah/Carignane blend. Fills out on the palate some but the middle is just a bit thin.

Mar 31st, 2019Splash decanted. If I had to use one word to describe this wine it would be "fresh". Everything about it projects freshness. As I poured this into the decanter, I was immediately struck by how energetic and alive this wine looked. Very expressive on the nose with a fantastic combination of red and blue fruits and the smell of spring air. On the palate: red and blue fruits and a sort of chalky, mineral-like thing that was almost electric. I thought the tannins were relatively low and the acid relatively high but nothing at all overbearing. This would be sublime with a wide range of foods and even worked tonight with our salmon risotto. The 2017 Red Table Wine is exactly as advertised. It was freaking delicious from the first glass to the last. More wines should be made like this. No fuss. Honest. Fresh. Quaff-able. Drink now with a splash decant and over the next 5-7 years.

Mar 29th, 2019There’s this expression that has arisen in the wine industry in the past decade - “crushable” or “smashable” wines, wines that All but demand you drink another glass and another until you realize sadly that you’ve drunk the entire bottle and you desperately want another. I’ve had my share of such wines, but this is my new favorite “gimme the whole bottle” font of deliciousness. @ownrooted has hit it out of the park with this mixed-black field blend of 1920’s-planted vines in decomposed granite sand. Berries, herbs, earth and an incredible saline kick gives this wine mouthwatering “come hither” appeal. I wish I had 24 more bottles.
