Gran Reserva de Fondillon Alicante Monastrell
This is why I love wine. Always something new to learn and try. This gem from 1980 is from Alicante, Spain - Late harvest monastrell grapes that are aged to create an unfortified, rancio character wine due to long aging in large barrels. Perfectly sweet, with savory, oxidative goodness of walnut, toffee, burnt orange peel, ginger, dates, and clover honey.

Jan 6th, 2016Drinking this baby with my daughters and grumpy wife in Alicante. Makes my daughters even more beautiful and my wife less grumpy. Dried nuts, a bit of fig flavor.
