Bodegas Juan Gil

Jumilla Monastrell 2021

ESF
9.0

Not your standard jammy Monastrell: deep wafting (mostly) dark fruited aromas, licorice & minerals, just oozing - peppery notes as well. Broad smooth on palate (med + weight) not much acidity, rugged tannins leading to modest finish. Great QPR @ Costco — a day ago

Bodegas El Nido

Clio Jumilla Monastrell-Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2020

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2020 Clio is a blend of 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Zingla Vineyard, which was planted in 1936 in Jumilla. Aged for 22 months in French and American oak barrels, this garnet wine unfolds in the glass with ripe black fruit and dried fruit notes, layered with herbal and oaky nuances and a prominent vanilla tone. Indulgent and bold, the rich palate features a velvety, overwhelming mouthfeel. This is a ripe, concentrated red born under the Mediterranean sun. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, September 2024)

Bodegas Atalaya

Laya Old Vines Garnacha Blend 2017

Drinking the 2019 in late 2024. Deep rich color. Thin legs that quickly disappear. Light bouquet, lots of fruit notes. Smooth on the palette with light tannins and a slightly sweet finish. Nice wine! — a month ago
