Saladini Pilastri
Vigna Monteprandone Rosso Piceno Superiore Sangiovese Blend
Very dark, glass-clinging, near black purple. Blueberry and ripe black cherry on the inviting nose, adding a hint of black pepper on the medium full palate. Fine tannins and juicy medium plus acidity, both asserting from entry. Finish is short-ish though the tannins linger on the tongue for a while. A surprisingly big red from Marche that's a good match for heartier fare. Osso buco or rich lasagna are great starts. Drink now through 2028.

Nose of violets, blackberries, blueberry, plums, cherries, light vanilla, coke, licorice, leather, earth, black pepper and spices.
Medium bodied with high acidity and nice legs.
Tart on the palate with blueberries, cherries, raspberries, plums, strawberries, pomegranate, licorice, oak, dirt, coffee, spices and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish, with soft tannins and black pepper.
A nice red wine, a little tart but not bitter. Interesting, with some complexity, but still not balanced.
Better with food rather than all by itself, like chicken or pork dishes.
Made with organic grapes.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

Montepulciano/Sangiovese blend. A touch of plum, with black cherries on the mid palate. A kiss of oak spices, and a speinkling of brick and dust. A pop of acidity lets you know it's clearly Italian

Jan 12th, 2014Ruby hue with high saturation. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, cassis, cherry, cream, leather, plum, tar, and violet. Medium-full body; firm, chewy, full tannins; and medium-plus acidity. Lovely, heady nose; full, plush mouthfeel; lengthy finish. Balanced and versatile. Blend of Montepulciano (70%) and Sangiovese (30%). Incredible QPR (sub-$20 at Total Wine).
