Testa Vineyard Carignane
Could use a few years, but still very good.

Aug 2nd, 2018Just a killer bottle of Carignane. Focused fruit with herbal notes and good acidity. A richer mid-palate. Right up there with Sandlands, Vinca Minor, and Forlorn Hope as my favorite domestic renditions.

May 13th, 2016Lot going on here: muddled darkish ruby, opaque, wafting nose of black & red fruit, with quite a bit of those southern French hallmarks: dried herbs, black olive, gravel, herbaceous, etc. clearly old vine material, but med (-) weight & very juicy acidity, fruit turned tart and green flavors popped. There is a reason carignane is usually blended with other varietals. This presents more French than Spanish. Enjoyable overall - cerebral exercise

Yummy!
Nice bright acidity, and red fruits with spice.
Yummy!
Deep, dark ruby with thinnish edges. Rustic notes on the nose with dried strawberries, cocoa powder, and nutmeg. This is most definitely American Carignane done right. More similar to Priorat wines than Southern France, this gives you all the gravely characteristics that you want from the varietal. On the palate, savory is the word of the day. Dark chocolate, cedar, dusty leather, herbs, and a good bit of allspice. Black cherries and hints of pomegranates provide the fruit. Great structure and really nice acidity to go along with the 12.1 makes this a winner.
