May 12th, 2019The nose is a clone of the Farella - delicate wood and mineral driven. The wine presents as a party in your mouth. Tannins are more prominent and bold. Lots of crushed rock, sweet tobacco and cherry compote. Nice acidly buffers the tannic structure. Lay this down for a year or two.

Apr 14th, 2017Sample from Estate.
First wine we have tried from Rudius Wines and what a treat it was. Super dark ruby red with dark purplish hues. Completely coats the glass, high viscosity. Very tight to start on the nose with slight vegetal nuances and some more of black current, cinnamon, pencil shavings and some purple flowers. As it opened up over day two it grew into deeper dark berries, anise, baking spices and dark cocoa. Furry mouthfeel with notes of cloves, black cherries and some minerality. Moderate tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Developed some darker fruits and light savory characteristics. Drier than expected in the long finish. 92 is only a starting point this will only get better with age. Drink from 2017 till 2030.

Revisited, sans-Coravin. This time with 3 hour decant.
Much improved but still felt overall lacking given the site of harvest.

Coravin'd a glass and had 20 minutes later. Quite closed. Tannic and slightly acidic. Needs a lot of time to open at this juncture.

Jul 25th, 2017Just not up there with their Farella or Knockmoore, I was hoping this would equal Rivers Marie Panek 2013, but not the case.
Half the price of Rivers Marie & it shows,
