Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.

Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, mocha, coke, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead and black pepper.

Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs

Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, tobacco leaf, spices, graphite, bitter herbs, black tea and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is very tasty. Nicely balanced with nice complexity and a nice mouthfeel.

Better after 2 hours of airtime, when it opens up and shows the tannins.

Wine Spectator 92 points. Robert Parker 90 points.

I enjoyed it, but expected more from this vintage. Although it could age nicely in the next 10 years, if you are expecting a Napa Cabernet taste, I'd recommend to drink it sooner rather than later.

Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

14.8% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$70.

In a difficult vintage, this winery continues to do great things. So impressive, and represents a great value in the Napa cab herd.

Nose is exotic, with sweet oak and ripe cherries. Palette is textured and multidimensional. Tannins still provide a nice upright structure, but are resolved. Finishes with a panoply of rich dark fruits, tobacco, maple syrup and nutmeg. I think 08 in Cali was nothing special, but the Rudius winemaker continues to pull off some splendid acrobatics.
If you have this in your cellar, don't leave it too much longer.

Opened for visiting family. Great with steaks. Just needs about an hour of air and ready to go.

Tasted many times. Always a pleasure. Great fruit profile, well behaved tannins. Doesn't cost a kings ransom, either.

Very impressive stuff, in what was a lousy vintage. Rudius 11 is a buy.

Starting off this birthday week celebration with some older wines, this one was last up for day one (rounding up to tasting note 1,000 on Delectable this weekend).

Deep garnet red. Layered nose with a touch of jam, floral herbs, some baking spices and dark berries. Moderate tannins (7/10) and medium bodied. Tons of dark red fruits on the palate with some blue fruits, and baking spices. Seems like a bit of mountain fruit too with some floral notes and dark berries. Long finish. Drink till 2022.

In the glass, this is as black as me.

Lovely opulent notes of mocha, overripe cherries and kirsch. Tannins are ripe and strong. Notes on the nose carry thru to the palette. Mid-palette is bathed with maple syrup and a superb oak treatment. Finishes sweet. This is a full throttle, deeply extracted Napa cab.
