One of our faves that we caught just in time. It’s begun it’s downswing. Fruits are not so prominent, while the tertiary, earthy notes are beginning to emerge. Not so fleshy or flashy. Still has a good tannic structure, with supporting acidity. Oak treatment adds a nice additional layer of complexity. If you like aged wines, this is for you. If you prefer drinking wines in their youth, and you have this vintage in your cellar, giddy up.

Apr 18th, 2020The nose displays depth, with notes of bitter chocolate and maple syrup. Luscious, velvety presentation on the palate. It’s viscous mouthfeel compliments the rich, dark fruits. Nice tannins with bright acidity framing all the components. An excellent example.

Apr 15th, 2018Huge, bombastic nose of jam compote and soft oak.
On the palette, this is rich and dense. Ultra ripe mouthfeel, with balance and precision. Finishes with maraschino cherries and coffee notes. WOTN, but only just!

This has a beautiful, feminine nose of flowers, kirsch, with a hint of spice box.
The palette is complex and dense. Jam compote is followed by notes of red licorice, and bitter chocolate. Bold, yet somewhat restrained tannins, interplay with bright acidity. Finishes plush and sweet. This is a killer Napa cab.

A bit over 2 years since my last bottle. The big ripe fruit has indeed eased up and the tannins certainly softened. Feel like the acidity is now out of balance a bit running high. Still, drinking quite well. A nice big bold Napa cab.

Dec 28th, 2021My third bottle of the ‘13, this one about a year after my last. Each time it gets better. Fruit is big and ripe, black and blue. Tannins smooth. Structure is solid. Nice long finish. A short decant is still recommended.

Oct 18th, 2021Very dark ruby. Decanted an hour. Strong black fruit up front, then oak and earthy. Seems a bit tighter acidic than the last bottle. Nice fruit though.
