Crossroads Cabernet Sauvignon
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Deep purple in color with a short reddish/ purplish rim.
Beautiful nose with black fruits, cedar, light vanilla, licorice, dried figs, raisins, spices, alcohol, herbs, black pepper, tobacco leaf, cola and chocolates.
Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruit forward on the palate with black currants, stewed plums, blackberries, peppercorn, oak, Mediterranean spices, licorice, alcohol, chocolates, tobacco leaf and herbs.
Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 7 year old Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, is drinking beautifully. Rich and extracted. Fruit forward and in your face kind of wine.
Good right out of the bottle, and so much better after a few hours of airtime, when the complexity comes in. The high alcohol is pretty apparent at this point.
I had this vintage 4 years ago, and loved it just as much.
Robert Parker 90 points. Wine Spectator 91 points.
Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Good by itself, and even better with a nice piece of steak.
A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec. Aged in (46% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months.
15.1% alcohol by volume.
93 points
$80 (at release).

Enjoyed at dinner with a beautiful steak. The cork had some failure, but the wine was still immensely enjoyable!
