Rodney Strong Vineyards
Alexander's Crown Cabernet Sauvignon
The Meatball Shop is a wonder. Check various options on a laminate menu with a dry marker and 15 minutes later you'll be presented with a "kitchen sink" of market vegetables, a soft poached egg, and a trio of delicious meaty spheres. I brought along this Sonoma Cab ($15 corkage). Rich, dark, powerful, somewhat jammy but it sustains well. The perfect pairing with the juicy, fatty meatballs.

Sep 11th, 2017A clear step down from their "Rockaway" but a step up from an entry level Rodney Strong Cab. Very woodsy without distinct oak spices except vanilla---and there was lots of that. Deep, dark fruit, grippy tannins, but lacking acidity. All in---not bad.

Jun 30th, 2017This is a 1978 Alexander's Crown Cabernet 5 liter. Surprisingly still drinkable. Needed some time to open up. Fell apart after an hour or so.
