Robert Pepi
Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon
I know this sounds crazy, but one of the magic-of-success to this bottle is that the cork of this 37 yro wine was as dense and sturdy as the day it was enclosed. …a little tired age, but great cherry, strawberry, blackberry, mesquite. Drink now! Very good!

Sep 18th, 2020Robert Pepi specialized in Sauvignon Blanc and was so successful with it that he sold his winery to Jackson Family Wines in the mid-nineties. I doubt many of those whites are still hiding away in anyone’s cellar, but the cabs are well worth seeking out. This had a pristine cork, deep color with no bricking and a balanced and complex palate. Ready to drink as the fruit is fading a bit.

Oct 22nd, 201785' Robert Pepi Vine Hill Ranch. 12.5 ALC.
" Bruce Phillips- The Pepi 85' VHR is a very special bottle of wine" This is from the hillside Southeast exposure plot, that at the time were from 30+ year old vines. The color is still a vibrant brick red, light ruby/dark violet edges. I'm absolutely amazed how well this is drinking. Very unexpected! This piece of land was replanted completely in the early 90’s. It doesn't come from the valley floor...sold to Cakebread. All hillside!
