Robert Mondavi Winery
Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Napa Valley, California, USA

Pale lemon color with complex aromas of fresh ripe citrus and tropical fruits with herb floral notes, blend of 92% Sauvignon Blanc, 8% Sémillon. On the palate flavors of peach, citrus and melon with lemongrass and floral herb notes. Medium+ finish ending with juicy fruit, herb and grassy citrus notes, lively acidity with mineral character. Nice! Pair with some Sushi!

Bought with a 50% discount... the original pricetag was much too expensive for my liking (260 PLN which is above 60 USD). I paid around 30 USD and gave it a chance. The nose is unmistakably sauvignon blanc with that herbaceous touch, that cat piss scent, a bit of a smoky thing, guava, lime and a creamy, almost milky thing. Some vanilla is lurking in the back, too. The palate is rather balanced, with good lemon and lemon zest notes all along, some nice width, some creamy mouthfeel, some rather strong grip in the midpalate before a long, fresh, lightly smoky, gently zesty finish with lemon that goes on for a while. It's fuller and broader than Loire sauvignon blanc wines that I'm used to, and obviously than fresh and super aromatic NZ wines. It's not bad but probably still too expensive, even after that discount.
