Napa Valley Merlot

Dark red with blue/black fruit aromas and spice notes. The wine is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Malbec and Petit Verdot, aged in French oak for 16 months. On the palate blackberry and plum flavors with herb spice, not as jammy as prior vintages. The wine had good balance with lively acidity and drying tannins. Full-bodied wine finishes with a spicy ending. Robert Mondavi wines are a bargain, this Merlot is good, grab an older vintage as this wine aged well. Tasting Sample.

Smokey red fruit, leather, spice, and stewed dark fruit. Medium tannins, high alcohol, and medium plus acid.

This was Ok... went well with prime rib.

Moderate ruby color. Black cherry, plum, and spice cake on the nose. Soft and round on the palate but with surprising amount of tannin. $23.

Complex berry notes, with chocolate and smoke. Really enjoyable merlot with character.
