This was on the bubble. Fully mature, but drinking perfectly now. A shade too much oak on the nose and palate. Tannins are close to resolved, and not too much acidity to talk about. Still fruit dominant with black cherries and linze torte. Consume with the next 12 - 24 months.

Perfect Napa Cab. Aromatically romances you with kisses of milk chocolate decadence and blackberry pie. This was pushing for wine of the day. Reminded me of certain TRB wines in the sense that this included the entire fruit spectrum...raspberries, black cherries, blueberries, blackberries. More blue fruit here than most other cabs (which I enjoy) that adds a sweeter note to the fruit. I saw @Ron R ‘s review where he mentioned brown sugar and I think that is very on point. Zero herbal notes here. Rich and compact. Oak is in play. A total pleasure wine at this point, for those who enjoy sweet and rich fruit.

Jun 1st, 2019This is like a tightly coiled spring on the nose and palate. Consistent notes from my prior tasting. This needs more time as the tannins are still underripe. Great potential here.

Jan 5th, 2019Mineral-driven nose, with cassis and brown sugar.
Palete has toasty oak notes, with blackberries and rich raspberries. Tannins are underripe, but regal. Wine finishes with with a long tail. This needs a few more years in the bottle, and should continue to further improve.

So good. Some crazy aromatics you wouldn't normally associate with Napa Cab... Coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, perhaps a touch of cajeta.

2016 vintage. Last tasted 02.07.24 (9.4). Still medium-heavy body but the alcohol/flavors enduring a bit of angst currently. Hot alcohol hits front palate, then fruit, then 18-wheeler tannins. Tasting as if it fell apart and needs a magic wand to meld it all back together. Still, fairly impressive tasting the holy trinity simultaneously, yet separately, and with unexpected composure given the lack of quality pavement for this 1974 De Tomaso Pantera. 01.20.25.
