Dark, deep purple /inky in color with a dark purple rim.
Gorgeous nose, yet typical for Lodi Zinfandel, but this is a Napa Petite Syrah... Very much fruit forward with blackberries, cooked plums, dried figs, coffee, oak, green pepper, licorice, cherries, black currants, vanilla, Mediterranean spices, smoke, wildflowers, chocolate and peppercorn.
Big, full-bodied and rich with medium plus acidity and awesome legs.
Extremely fruity and smooth on the palate, with blackberries, blueberries, figs, black currants, chocolate, Coffee, tobacco, vanilla, cranberries, oak, bitter herbs and black pepper.
Long finish with soft, bitter tannins and sour cherries.
Great wine, especially on the nose, yet I expected more tannins. Very complex and elegant yet a bit flat. Probably on the way down.
Otherwise, this would have been a 95 pointer.
Needs at least 2 hours in a decanter.
Lots of sediments so probably unfiltered.
14.9% alcohol by volume.
