Powell & Son Barossa & Eden Valley Shiraz

Dark fruit, intense attack. Plush with good tannin though a bit hot. #knowthyself

He's back! Post the Torbreck apocalypse, David Powell has come storming back w this cracking Barossa/Eden Shiraz blend: this is an athlete of a wine, powerfully built, yet w great definition and muscle tone. Beautifully walks the high wire, balancing bright berries w savoury complexity. Reminds me very much of the very best of The Struie that he made and is a cracking good wine. Chapeau M. Powell! 🎩

Penfolds taste off. Not bad. Definitely cannot pick as the youngest wine in the blind test. Ths nose is very distinguish red bark tobacco.

Full bodied, fruity, smooth. Changed significantly as it breathed. Good.

Wow not my cup of tea over-extracted - not sure what’s to like here stewed black fruit and oak high abv

Smells and tastes like pure raspberry jam. Never been a fan of Shiraz

Powells post-Torbreck wines have tiny allocation; this is at the higher end with layers of Rhone-like Syrah running through its veins. Restrained yet powerful and dense, too young but serious fruit. Smart
