Bought at auction in CO years ago. Should probably have drunk it younger. Now it offers an earthy, tertiary bottle character that is vaguely reminiscent of Bordeaux. Brambles, gravel, toast, graphite. Delicious if losing a bit of fruit.

I find Carmichael to be one of Ridge’s more elegant and lighter Zins... which means it’s still a brute but not a monster. ‘15 had better balance out of the gate than previous years.

Really liked this blend. Petite Syrah added some density and punch. Big berry bang.

Fantastic and well balanced Zinfandel offering from ridge. Plenty of American oak and fruit on the palette. Wonderful bramble fruit on the nose. Drink now, excellent on release.

They know how to get it done. Tremendous elegance and restraint, roasted plum, new American Oak, chalky tannin, connective acidity. Remarkable as always.

Perfect harmony between acid, tannin, and fruit. Dried red fruits up front before anise, pencil lead, papery tannin dominate the mid palate. The finish is sweet vanilla cream for.an instant before a more focused, subtle earth comes about. Less overtly woody than many Ridge Zins. Restraint and terroir focus typical of this producer.

Solid and mature. More noticeable alcohol than in'04, but I preferred the vinous character in this wine. Paired with a crazy mixed grill of lamb skewers, beef flap, Tamworth hog chorizo, brats, and hot dogs.

Alive but maybe on life support. Our group of ten was nearly evenly divided between preferring this and the'05. I thought this showed it's age much more than the subsequent vintage.
