40th Vintage Geyserville Zinfandel Blend

Now 16 years old and 3 years since the last bottle, the fruit is turning earthy. After decanting it opens up with caramelized layers of dark berry, bramble, cocoa…. Tannins resolved. It was perfect tonight.

The fruit is still fresh and dense. It's definitely more approachable than the same bottle a few years ago. And I'll wait a few for the next... 3 to go.

Realty everything you could ask for in an old vine Zinfandel. 10 years old and still very alive.

Black fruits changing into denser compote and hints of nutmeg changing into dark cacao and espresso. Textbook.

Plush and full of life. Manages to teeter on the edge of too ripe but reigns it in. Decadent and delicious

Great old Ridge. Zinfandel 77%,Carignane 17%,Petite Sirah 6% and 14.6% alcohol. Could have been an old Cabernet.

Deep purple with no hint of brick. Blackberry jam on the nose a little cooked. Rich black fruit with surprisingly tough tannin. We’llsee how the fruit emerges with a few hours.
