Howell Mt fruit, this comes from Mike Dunn, son of Randy. Whole different varietal from what his dad does but similar in that he makes both a Napa valley floor/foot hills and a mountain fruit version. I prefer the Howell Mt but that’s my bias. Ripe Black fruits, black cherry, meaty, sage herbal notes, firm tannins but I bet that they’d open up with a little time open. Would love to grab a few to age.

If Rudy Kurniawan made this it would be equal parts Shafer Relentless, off-vintage La Mission Haut Brion, and recent release Aussie Shiraz. Creosote, wet clay, and bacon fat, with a million things in between.

Always love these Petite Sirahs from Mike Dunn, and this 2012 is the bigger brother to their Napa Valley bottling. Deep and dark purplish red. Layered and thick nose with dried crushed flowers, cloves, blueberries and vanilla. Heavy and dusty tannins (8/10) with a full body. High acidity but not over the top. A lot redder than the Napa Valley bottling when it comes to fruit flavors of raspberries, and bramble berries but does have a touch of blueberries. A bit woody too throughout with some forest floor, spices and white pepper. Very dry and long finish. This is a best of a wine that will improve with some bottle age. Drink from 2019 till 2034. #howellmountain #napaterroirisreal #petitesirah #dunn this is a big wine and I completely recommend decanting it first. Can definitely age. A Coravin won't give you a true idea of this wine, it needs to be uncorked.

Almost totally opposite of the Gargiulo G Major 7 Cab. Smoky, earthy, floral, barnyard nose with a huge French influence on the palate. Not a style for everyone but I loved it. Medium plus depth and long finish.
