Hallmarks of a classic northern Rhône ring true throughout this Walla Walla. Dark purple hues, quite inky. Has a distinct smoked meat and black pepper fragrance that bleeds into the flavors which also pack some plum and coffee. Really nice medium heavy structure that is well balanced with its flavors and feel.

Purple-red in color, dense, super-extracted pigmentation. Meaty, mixed red and blue fruit notes in nose with a hint of mint. Cherry cola flavor with steady barrel smoke streak running with length here initially; later this resolves into dusty, black and white pepper flavors. Soft mouthfeel with coffee and moderate skin astringency in finish and aftertaste. A solid WA state Syrah from a reliably consistent producer of quality reds. 346 cases produced

For this price, I could be drinking a Kontos Les Collines Syrah. No disrespect to what Chuck is doing here, but there are better wines for the price. Having said that...this wine is a precise representation to what the Chapoutier family is doing in the Rhone Valley of France. Lots of terroir showing through its rustic fruit and spices. Those spices are very subtle at the very end. I would've loved to have taken this home and had it 24 hours later. Stellar Syrah.

This might be as good as Syrah can get. Velvety, rich, elegant shit right here. Had been holding this for a while and it was worth the wait.
