This stunning Grenache was sourced from Monette's Vineyard in the Walla Walla Rocks region. Prior to bottling the wine was left on the lees for 18 months in neutral French oak barriques. This wine begins with aromatics of rose petals, white flowers, Mandarin orange rind and potpourri. This leads to flavors of red cherry, strawberry, orange zest and strawberry jam. This is pretty, downright sexy wine and absolutely irresistible at this juncture. While less acid-driven than the ’14 bottling, this outstanding wine is just as good and even more impossible to put down as the gorgeous aromatic and flavor range shines through. Only 103 cases made of this absolutely stunning Grenache, which is one of the best of its kind in Washington state. Drink 2019-2029- 95

100% Grenache. The wine name translates to "First Among Equals" Soft nose of florals, spice, blueberries, dark cherries, dark rich soils. The mouthfeel has soft and tannins are velvety. Medium body and tannins. Blueberries, dark cherries, strawberries and soft but deep, dark spice. Crushed rocks, good acidity and a beautifully, round elegant, lean finish. The aromatics on the nose of the Raza wines were amongst some of the best I've experienced...amazing florals! Billo who is part owner & Winemaker has an impressive resume. He last made Delmas wines before helping to start Raza. He just completed his "Masters of Wine;" which is not an easy task and there are less than 300 "Masters of Wine" in the world. Photos of; their tasting room and shots of their cellar. Raza is a small production producer at around 750 cases.

2012. Very pretty red fruit and spices. Lighter than expected but hits with great acidity. So much fun.

We tasted this at the winery a year ago and thought it was great but this did not do much for me when we opened it. Maybe it needs more air.
