Raoul Gautherin et Fils
Chablis Chardonnay

Pale lemon in color.
Fruity nose with citrus, apples, pears and light oak.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with yellow apples, ripe citrus fruits, lemons, light oak, spices, herbs and earth.
Nice length on the finish with limes and almonds.
This is a very tasty Chardonnay from Burgundy. Rich and fruit forward.
Nicely balanced and complex, with a nice mouthfeel. Soft and better when properly chilled.
13% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Certainly not a traditional village Chablis, showing heavy ML character and creaminess on the nose after spending a few short months in roughly 50% new French oak. On the palate things unfold differently. Great acidity, stony and briny mouthfeel with saline flavor profile that also offers tart green apple, melon and a hint of lush tropical fruit on the finish. Surprising structure and tension going on here given the style (particularly the aging). It’s a hard sell but nonetheless an impressive wine should you find it in a shop or the wine list. Just don’t expect traditional.

Popped and poured. The wine pours a straw color with medium viscosity; no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine smells like bright, slightly underripe tropical fruit: pineapple, with some lemon and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry, medium (bordering medium+). Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium and loaded with minerals. A more than serviceable afternoon sipper. Drink now.
