Apr 3rd, 2020Winemaking posts at Rudd, Dominus, Chalk Hill & Matanzas Creek, David Ramey & his wife, Carla began their own label in 1996. Rich deep ruby red. Aromas of powerful dark fruit, hints of pepper and sweet spice reminiscent of a Northern RhΓ΄ne. On the palate raspberry and blackberry, soft and velvety, with smoky oak, big spice on the finish which should continue to develop for several years. Very Nice!

Sep 19th, 2018Falling on the more elegant side of Syrah, it's brimming with red fruits, florals and spice. Cranberry, dry cherry, red pluots and figs. Plenty of fresh ground black pepper, cedar, clove and cigar box provide its signature spice element. A touch of viognier adds a nice floral element - predominantly crushed violets. Coats and sits on the palate, with barrel tannin hitting late on the finish.

2 people found it helpfulJul 30th, 2016Reaches more for elegance then brashness. Needs air, and we decanted for 2+ hours. Fruit and new French are interwoven well. Vanilla, cedar, figs, dried cranberry, clove, dried rose petal, and violets. Quite lengthy, and balanced.

Jul 30th, 2016Muted nose. Never opened up. Very little fruit or spice/pepper that I was looking for.
