Dark Ruby in color. Lovely and fresh. Roses and plum and gorgeous pretty fruit. Really beautiful and complex and long.

Dark like motor oil with orange edges. Intense with notes of oxidation. Admirably rich still but slightly disappointed.

Just love this wine, just gets better and better, had bottle for Fat Tuesday. Deep Ruby with an elegant bouquet of berry fruits, light spice with fresh earthy tones, a traditional Rioja. On the palate, the wine was silky smooth with layers of flavors, berry and cherry, tobacco, smoky cedar, dark fruit, vanilla spice, very well balanced with fine tannins and a clean structure ending with a nice lingering finish. Delicious! Can age well into next decade.

What a wine! With it's pale tawny coloring, the nose and palate is quite the exhilarating surprise! Nose: mature characteristics of earth, mushroom, tobacco, stewed tomato, toffee, balsamic. I discovered Essence of fried flowers, med + flavors with meaty tannins from the oak. On the palate: med+ acidity, med. tannin, med alcohol, med body, deliberate oxidative quality of balsamic, tart red fruit and umami. I found this to be very good, still quite alive and fresh, can go on for another 3-5 years. Fine specimen of a aged quality Rioja.

What a great bottle of wine. Thank you @Jim Westby for sharing this and for cooking the excellent mushroom chicken to go with it. This had lovely candies orange peel aromatics, medium body and such good length I am almost still tasting it the next day. Showing no signs of fading at 36!!!

Wanted this to be better. Hollow midpalate, fading fruit, still enjoyable but I expected more. A little confused why the cork was marked "reserva" but the label "gran reserva," bc honestly felt a little more like reserva in quality...

A classic example of a Rioja made in a very traditional way. Quite nice.
