Rosso Ca Del Merlo

Sweet, tart and simple but in a clean and perfect way. Stewed fruits on the nose, fruit candy and fruit leather on the palate, with a full tartness. Strangely fresh even though it’s showing some interesting bottle development, with cocoa and slatey minerals. Great with sichuan from Han Dynasty. Still, it’s pricey.

Delicious candied red fruit / some spice / a curious caramel note

Normally a 15% abv wine would turn me off but this 13 year old Quintarelli is divine. Anise, plum with a spicy herbal kick!

Blend of Corvina (54%), Rondinella (29%), Cabernet Sauvignon (14%) along with trace amounts of Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Merlot and Croatina. Dark and murky ruby color with black highlights. Fragrant aromas of red and black fruit, wild herbs and flowers, freshly turned soil and cocoa powder. Deep flavors of black berry/cherry fruit, pomegranate, tobacco, dark chocolate, black licorice and sweet spices. Lovely mineral backbone on the long, lingering and savory finish. Full bodied, rich, concentrated and plush due to the fact that this wine is produced in the appassimento style. Incredible balance. Tannins are soft and well integrated, and the acidity (though present) is in check. Outstanding! Thanking Kase and Pete for making Father’s Day 2026 very special by serving this gem.

Pretty floral. Mid weight to light. Decent length, well integrated tannins.

Cherry. Almost like a blend between Amarone and barbaresco
