Mar 13th, 2024A splendid wine. QC flexing its incredible age-ability muscles with this 18yr old powerhouse. I had this about 6-7 months ago and this actually seemed better than the previous bottle. Youthful. A harmonious medley of blackberry, black cherry, plum accompanied by dark cocoa shavings and dates. The oak takes a back seat and compliments the fruit and secondary cedar/baking spice notes wonderfully. Great bottle, @joe leatherwood .

Jun 15th, 2019Shared with me by one of Washington’s great winemakers, Chris Peterson, the 1999 Quilceda Creek Cabernet is absolutely singing at twenty years of age. The palate still shows wonderful freshness with lighter wild blackberry tones and a beautiful range of non-fruit flavors from wild mushroom and dried herbs to pipe tobacco and even creosote. This beautiful wine will continue to evolve well over the next decade. Drink 2019-2028- 95

Apr 10th, 2019Monthly 4th Friday is post Thanksgiving this year, so lots of Thanksgiving style wines!
Group was split on if this had some VA on the nose. It definitely lessened as time went on. Chalky red and black fruit, tar, cherry tobacco on the nose. Wonderful texture on the palate! Definitely tastes younger than it is. Plum, cocoa dusted dates, and a leather/licorice combo toward the finish.

Crimson with slightly Tawny rim. Lush black currant and plum aromas with some dusty Cedary Cabernet Notes. On the palate totally resolved Tannins - seamless classic claret. Perfumed and silky. A little on the New World side of Left Bank Bordeaux. After an hour or so in decanter - very impressive. A 💯 pointer from Robert Parker and #2 Wine in Wine Spectators Top 100 of 2006.

Feb 24th, 2018This is the first time I've tasted this legendary producer, I have to admit, Quilceda Creek lives up to its reputation. There is a kind of restraint to this wine that is difficult to achieve in Washington State. Tasted blind, the 1998 could easily be mistaken for an aged Saint Julien. The nose is generous and complex, with aromatics of boysenberry, juniper berry, herb and spice notes. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with silky texture and layers of red and black seed-studded fruit. Cigar box and spice on the finish.

11 people found it helpfulJun 8th, 2014Bright medium ruby to the rim. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice pastille, bitter chocolate, cocoa powder and minerals, lifted by a note of lavender; just this side of liqueur-like. Dense, sweet, silky and firm, with wonderfully suave, dense flavors of dark berries, bitter chocolate and violet dominating. This savory wine finishes with a slowly building whiplash of flavor and the sophisticated seamless tannins to support a long evolution and graceful evolution in bottle. I still give the edge to the 2016 for its energy and lift, but this very deep, youthfully medicinal wine is potentially great as well. Real nobility of texture here (it saturates every square millimeter of the palate) and outstanding palate-staining length. Lots to come! (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, December 2020)
