So good. Very surprised at how open this still is.

Initially a little thin on the palate. Given 30-40 minutes of air, the complexity really improved. Great nose of leather, dark fruits and a bit of anise. As the wine evolved, the flavor got meatier and more complex. Served with Mushroom and black truffle risotto and with roasted duck breast, egg pasta with white truffles, and Brussel sprouts with green grapes.

Excelent, i just love it. Very perfumed, gripy tannins, and medium body

Dark with only moderate transparency. Nose is fine, but the mid-palate has a strong eucalyptus/menthol taste which I really don’t like. Not sure if that’s typical of Ovello or what. Maybe it will diminish with time open or years in the cellar, but I’m not optimistic. Other than that, the tannins have only just noticeable, so the wine has likely just entered into its drinking window, although I’d give it another year or two ideally.

Battle of 2008 with finally a draw. Before dinner definitively the Ovello, during dinner the Bricco delle Viole and after dinner again the Ovello. Both wonderfull wines!

Started angular and tartly acidic. Following a 6hr double decant it was overtaken by a tobacco nose. Struck a nice balance but needs air badly
