Tuesday night and tonight I have opened the 2015 Primus "The Blend" Apalta of Colchagua, Chile. This is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 24% Carménère, 8% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is black cherry, black raspberry, black plum, black currant, chocolate, baking spice, green peppercorn, graphite and earth.
On the palate is black cherry, raspberry, plum, black currant, green bell pepper, herbs, pencil shavings, vanilla and earthy notes
This wine is full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + fine rounded tannins that is fully balanced with a medium long elegant dark fruit seamless finish. A beautifully stylish wine that would go well with any nice savory meal. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping healthy. May 2, 2020. Purchased for Feast virtual tasting of Chilean reds. This was the best of 4, in my opinion. 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 24% Carménère, 8% petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc. Ripe black fruit, truffle, hint of pepper. Well balanced, smooth finish. Lovely. Excellent quality for price.
