Syrah typical. Haunting sanguine/iron wild blueberry pie. Dry rub rib match for the ages.

Sultry spicy blueberry jam, but not jammy, violet, smoke and black tea. Feral but polished and Pinot like weight.

Gushing inner mouth aromatics and sweet dark fruit popping in all corners. Inhale to take it all in and there’s still so much more going on. Abv a little higher at 14% this vintage, and prefer the 12.8% balance of the other years.

Cured meats, wild berry, pepper spice, underbrush, dried herbs, oak spice. Nice balance between cool climate and warm. Worked well with duck.

Sooo good. It has that fancy wine smell. Black cherry, cola, Spanish olive all in a beautifully integrated French oak.

NOSE: distinct black pepper! Maybe the clearest black pepper I’ve ever smelled in a wine. Other savoury spices also, both savoury and baking - I pick out cardomom. Also plum and muted blackberry. A dash of vanilla. Almost like fruity bitters. Hmm!

TASTE: VERY peppery, iron, leather -medium weight at most, not heavy or lush, but not thin either. Very dry black plum and spice [rosemary???], some dry wild berry. Bitter tea on the finish. I think this would go great with BBQ beef with a spicy dry rub. Well made. 90-91.

Tasting Menu wine w/beef short ribs - would seek this out, very impressive straddling Old & New World style
