Lighter in color and style than most Pott, or any, Cabernet Franc but ripe, juicy and deep. Black cherry, cranberries and cocoa round out the nose. The mouthfeel is soft and luxurious with dried red and black fruit, spicy Chili's and sage. The finish is long and layered with white pepper and smoke. One of my more interesting CF experiences.

Our perception of a wine is influenced by not only the wine, but the surroundings and people with whom we're drinking it. I had this wine in a nice restaurant in St. Helena with Claire Pott, the winemaker's wife. It was rich and tightly structured opening up after an hour to flavors of cassis, cocoa and leather.

Man. I have been looking forward to pulling this forever and the expectations got out of whack. Now I might have other versions which will do better than this but I thought it was just ok. Let’s see if it just needs more air.

Damn! Total winner. Bright tight fruit, crispy herbs, with a touch of earthy stink. I can’t recall being disappointed with a Pott wine.
