Polkura
Marchigüe Syrah
A nose of blackberry hand pie -
Dark berry, slate, saline, cherry stone, underlined coffee tones, tamarindo, swisher sweet tabaco, and crazy sour patch kid acidity,
Such a crazy wine - so good!
Polkura is the Mapuche peoples name for yellow slate - which is prevalent here.

A bit hot. Nice warming pop of new oak in the finish. Spice, chalky soil, velvety and elegant texture.

Dec 8th, 2016Great #Syrah from #Chile. Good consistency year after year. This vintage is a little boozy at 14.5%.
Layers of aromas from cherry licorice, raspberry, fresh boysenberry, blue flowers, and coco. Smooth palate, dry tannin. Black cherry, maraschino cherry. The palate is alc/tannin dominant for 2012. The weak spot for the wine.

Perhaps the darkest Syrah I have ever seen and definitely one of the best wines I have had from chile. Really intense smoked meat and cooked down plum flavors. Oak is enormous but integrated. Needs some smoked or charred lamb or beef.
