Totally different to the 61 G mascarello. Really dark and brooding. Plum, tobacco, balsamic, a hint of cinnamon. Very intense and broad with a succulent palate and astonishing intensity of fruit for a 57 year old wine. Layer upon layer of black cherry, leather, blackcurrant, dried herb. The Riserva Speciale. Some debate at the table if this is genuine or if something’s off with it. Outshone by the mascarello alongside. I like it.

Amazingly lush and open on the nose. Broad red and blue fruit, leather, spices, roseBlind I’d have guessed this as a 89 it’s so young tasting. Good depth and acidity and real length. Great with the veal cheeks.
