Cicala Barolo Nebbiolo

Perfect at this time.

Dark tawny color. Mostly opaque. Obvious Nebbiolo nose. Notes of anise, tea, rose petals, some balsamic vinegar and a little tar. Silky and smooth in the mouth. Tannins fully resolved. Almost sweet in its finish. This for me is at peak and is in a great drinking window.

Huge power and structure clearly with plenty of great years ahead. Signature tar and roses, crushed sweet red berries, dried mission figs, damp leaves and minerals. Finishes with exceptional length and with firm tannins. 2 hour decant at minimum. From the cellar of Blue Hill at Stone Barns.

Don’t get me wrong, totally gulpable but a little dirty on the nose. Classic chestnut and flowers with red maraschino cherry and tobacco and while aged and in a good point; still a little dirty.

Light ruby. Powerful nose. Notes of violets, anise, tea, soy. Rich and impactful in the mouth. Lots of fruit with nice spine of structure.

From the list at L'Artusi. Great deep opaque color with very aromatic nose. Notes of cherry, tar, soy, molasses and plum. Rich and fat in the mouth. Tannin nicely integrated. Great drinking right now but will stay in the zone for years to come.
