Too young to be consumed now... Lots of tannins and acids, should at least wait for 5+ years. In the decanter for 3+ hours and bottled decanted for another 4 hrs

Seriously great wine. Dark, fleshy, abundant fruit, well structured, long and elegant tannin structure. More serious than I expected and probably should have waited to open it...

Opaque. New oak and lush fruit on day one and two. The fruit and oak faded into the background on day three but it gained some austerity and lost some energy. Very tasty but not really a style I enjoy.

We recently pulled some cases out of storage, which haven't seen the light of day for nearly 15 years, so I'll have some fun posts in the next several months.

Nose has vintage Port at ~20Y, blackberry, blackcurrant, ripe blueberry, rehydrated raisin, coffee grounds and soil from a forest fire

Palate has orange zest in blackberry jam, dried cherry compote, wet baking spice, molasses cookie, medium tannins with intense finish, can hold easily another +10Y in proper storage. Amazing bottle.

Still at cellar temp and too cold to fully assess - But delicious sour cherry notes and a wonderful singed herb spiciness to this

Delicious. Dark purple color, aromas of plum, toast, mashed bramble berry. Intense, deep and still polished/softish tannin. Feels like there could be Merlot here. Good w homemade Bolognese.

Wednesday Wine Committee. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind as usual.

Insanely dry and tannic. Dark in the glass too. Could almost chew the finish. Charcoal smoke, dusted blackberries, violets, potpourri and underripe plum. Hold. I called this mid-late ‘00s left bank Bordeaux.

An intense, vibrant, dark and spicy interpretation of Sangiovese that worked utterly perfectly with a rich roast. Captivating in its complexity, this wine was a hit at home. I also like that Poggio Scalette is tiny and family run. One can taste their commitment to this wine.
