Planeta
Sicilia Nocera

Like a nerello mascalese but the flavour is more intense and unique. Not for everyone.

“Grande Vino” according to the Slow Wine guys. I don’t know if I’d go that far, but this definitely tastes like artisanal wine. Bravo, Planeta.

I believe 2016 was just the second vintage of this wine, and Planeta seems to be the only producer bottling Nocera as a single-varietal wine. That makes this a special treat, though there is never a guarantee that it will be good. This one is quite good, in fact. Brick red in color with a note of cocoa powder on the nose. The dark fruit on the palate wraps up this unique and tasty wine! 100% Nocera. 11/5/21.
