Sipping Fine Wine

Last tried ‘09 was in 2014, wow, still young and vibrant for an 11+ year old wine. 100% Nebbiolo, rich deep ruby red color with aromas of black fruit, herb, cedar and spice notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and ripe plum, with notes of leather, spice, cracked pepper and fennel, with slight floral. Fine chewy tannins, still packs a pop, long finish ending with fruit, oak and spice. It was great now but this Barolo still has a decade+ to age. Just delightful.

#2009 RS in the form of caramel, dried fig, and plum showcase a sweeter side to Barolo while #2010 showcases more refined fruit flavors, improved acidity, and a lengthier finish

Warm raisin, plum, and fig aromas. Caramel colored hue carries a light orange undertone...#oxidized? Delicate tannin profile with mild acidity. My only critique is the absence of mid palate weight or texture, the wine feels slightly hollow.

Really nice complement to veal osso buco. Cherry, vanilla, tar and delicate earth notes. The palate is tart cherry and strawberry with forest floor and leather with some floral notes. Med tannins, med+ acid, medium finish. I like Barolo to be a tad grippier than this to complement the protein i chose tonight.

A tighter but deeper wine than the Barbaresco but with a deeper more serious core that has fresh tar, rose and serious cherry and red berry fruit,
Palate has fine but firm tannins, dry at first but then with full on red berry fruit and wet tobacco leaf, needs further time in bottle.

Way too young, but had all the right components. Lay this one down for a few years.

Good fruit and strong tannins. Would love to taste in a few years. Very accessible and approachable for its youth.
