I opened this for whatever reason. Anyway, big, enveloping, youthful and grapey nose, grape jelly, mineral and raspberry coulis. Smells very ripe but shows the class of CDC. But jammy but classy jam. Palate is a classic 18. Massive and I mean Herculaneun with huge extract, stoney tannins, good freshness and massive massive minerals. Long finish but my goodness this is super duper young. Lol, 18 clos des chenes and I call myself a wine professional. 9.2 on pleasure and 9.8 on potential. I’ll settle in at a 9.5

May 19th, 2023Been a few years and this is drinking so well now but no rush at all. Nose is sour cherry and mid season cherry and lovely earthy minerals. Very fragrant and a hint of confection. Palate is sleek and juicy and very refined. It is a bit short but air will lengthen it I think. Juicy and elegant airy lovely purity and balance. Awesome depth and grainy, elegant tannins. Needs air to go higher. Let’s see what happens.
9.4 to 9.5 overnight. Juicy and elegant and so finessed.

All on a bed of rocks and limestone. So so impressive. Incredible density and elegance with classic tell tale Clos des Chenes stoney minerality. Long, chewy and dense with superb purity and structure. Better in 10 years but fun to peek into today.

Oct 17th, 2020Stunning Chenes complexity, stoney, massive late season red cherries macerated in black cherry juice, so refined, so precise, wow, ripe but perfectly and throughly ripe. What a palate, dense, complex, so stoney, insanely complex and concentrated with amazingly vivid fruit and juiciness. Black cherries, red cherries, cherry flower, cassis, awesome inner mouth aromas and florals, big ripe and juicy tannins of incredible refinement and finishes with a massive mineral push. 9.5 for now. Fantastic.
