Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey
Les Champlots Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Chardonnay

Previous bottle tasted a year ago in September 2024. Mid lemon in colour. Aromatics of struck match, white flowers, lemon and sea spray. Hasn’t got the delicious ripe fruit I am used to with Australian Chardonnay but it does have its charm and attraction in a more mineral restrained style.

The one Burgundy in my lineup of 6 Chardonnays. Grapefruit/Citrus, some flint - not as smoky and sulphidic as the Giaconda. I thought some tasters might have thought the Giaconda was the white Burgundy (all tasted blind). 35 year old vines. Quite fine.

Another stunner. Bright, reductive and dense, textural and crystalline. I wasn’t expecting this to be more open than it was and enjoyed its pure but coiled nature. We gave it a few hours in a decanter and it gave back an evolving set of beautiful, fresh, clean and complex aromatics and flavors. Don’t hurry on these mid-level 2014’s from PYCM
