Pierre Brisset
Cuvée Gabrius Bourgogne Pinot Noir

The 23 is upon us! Gorgeous aromas of dark cherry and bright cherry fruit and smells plush. Huge undercurrent of gorgeous limestone minerality. Really focused nose. The clarity and precision keep getting better every vintage. Some cranberry bog as well. Palate is so juicy and had an insane mouthful of fruit with such cut. Really textured and densely fruited and many black/red and sour cherries and had a plumpness. Not 15 plumpness without framing, not 18 plumpness surrounded by tannins but. unique 23 plumpness that echoes with unreal lipstick like fruit intensity that has lasting power on the palate. The fruit saturation on this is next level and my god this is hedonistic but in the best way possible because Pierre is a genius. The length is just staggering and the way it keeps pumping the fruit and the high quality but manageable tannins make this just so brilliant to drink. Unless this closes it will drink terrifically early and last 10-12 years. As it airs it is gaining so much energy and precision and the tannins and fruit get so much sweeter.

There is an increasing case that the 22’s are even better than I thought out of barrel. This is insane.
Outrageous confectionery nose of red cherry fruit and cherry flower. The confectionary quality is the most kinked out I have ever had from this cuvée. Stunning. Gorgeous mineral backbone as well and so stunningly aromatic. Palate is remarkable with unreal confectionary fruit and gorgeous supple tannins and pitter patter minerality. True finesse on the mid palate and lovely mid palate amplitude. Super fresh and that tart/sweet and ripe fruit on the palate is glorious. Such an amazing finish as it becomes part of your mouth.

Perfect nose, stemmy, all destenmed, melting tannins, This is fantastic. Juicy, complex, small gevrey. Gabrius is old name of Gevrey.

What a nose. Essence of violets. Mid season cherry. Strawberry. So old school. Ephemeral. Cranberry and sour cherry as well. Gorgeous. Haven’t smelled a Burg like thus since maybe 2014 vintage and before that 2007 or 2001. Awesome. Palate is punchy and super juicy with terrific early to mid season cherry and awesome freshness and acidity. Some sweet mid season cherry on the finish and gorgeous sappy purity. Elegant and structured. This is so bright. The brightest Brisset I’ve ever had. Succulent and tangy with such fine and persistent tannin. Some red apple on the nose with air. Really wonderful minerality all over this wine. Man is this epically juicy and decidedly red fruited.

Nose: sensual. Mid season cherry fruits. As it opens awesome lilacs.
Palate: delicious fresh cherries. Just enough acidity. Luscious. Silky texture. Utterly delicious. Great palate vibrancy.
Man. This is sooooo much better than a normal Bourgogne rouge.

Nose: eucalyptus. Menthol. Some lovely florals. I like the nose a lot.
Palate: nice cherries. Good spice.
This needs and hour decant. Before then it’s very meh.

Very nice Pinot from a producer I deeply respect. I think this could use more time, with more and more air this continued to come alive. Wonderful mouthfeel. Quite bright both on the nose and the palate. Finish has some nice pleasing bitterness and earth with just enough acid. Excited to see how this develops over time.
