Romane Machotte Gigondas Red Rhone Blend

Blend of Grenache and Syrah, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits with earthy aromas. On the palate flavors of cherry, raspberry and blackberry with slight herb and earthy spices, balanced acidity with an underlying sweet character. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit and earthy mineral tones.

Drank 1/27/22.

Bouquet of blackberry, and black pepper. Blackberry, spice, and tar on the palate. A bit closed off at this point . Finish is long and dry. We'll balanced, but not giving a ton. I would hold a few years. Try after 2025.

Light ruby in color with medium intensity and some cloudiness.

Nice nose of blueberries, cherries, currants, oak, spices, earth, wet leaves, herbs, peppercorn, pencil lead, dark coffee and light vegetables.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, cherries, strawberries, wood, wet leaves, herbs, forest floor, vegetables and peppercorn.

Medium plus in length on the finish with no tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice expression of a piece of history from Southern France. This 39 year old is still showing nice fruits with nice complexity and mouthfeel. Tasty and engaging.

Good right out of the bottle, and started dying after an hour of airtime.

Very enjoyable, even by itself, and better than I expected. Another great experience.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

Savory, stewy, gripping. Lots of red fruit, acid and tannin. Very young still at this point. 80% Grenache 20% Syrah. Nicely done.
