Gigondas Réserve Le Pas de l'Aigle Red Rhone Blend
Beautiful and fresh a really nice Grenache / Syrah form one of the highest elevations in Gigondas.

Apr 22nd, 2022First time trying a Gigondas, and I don't mind it. This particular bottle is a bit unbalanced though, a bit too tart on the finish and lacking in body, generally. It does have a nice range of flavours though, reminiscent of what makes rhone so attractive In the first place. I did, however, learn that red wine doesn't go with truffled risotto. Too starchy, too much sugar... it actually kills the wine. Who knows why it took me this long to figure this out.

Sep 16th, 2016Drinking some wine and watching How to Get Away with Murder with India. The color of the wine is dark opaque red and purple/blue. Smell a lot of herbs, peppercorn, baking spices, very herbal. It is warming like being in a cabin in front of the fireplace. Low tannins , low to moderate at best body, savory in taste. Finish is slightly above low. Overall not a bad bottle of Southern Rhone for $30. A few more years or hours in decanter would be really good for this wine.
